About Us

My beloved pet dog, a stray breed, was saved from the streets. He was the first rescue that inspired the concept of a rescue center. I used to care for stray dogs, but I never thought about adopting one because of my parents' worries and the level of responsibility it involves. Witnessing a heart-wrenching accident where a mother dog tragically passed away, leaving behind her vulnerable puppies, deeply touched my heart. I brought both puppies to my place, ensuring they received the necessary care. Despite some initial hesitation from my family, I successfully found a loving home for one healthy puppy with a close friend. I held onto the other until he made a full recovery.

After much persuasion, my family finally agreed to let me keep him, and Sheru quickly became a cherished member of our family. This experience opened my eyes to the fact that Sheru was just one of countless dogs enduring daily hardships. This motivated me to establish Saahas for Animals, an animal shelter in Pune, to rescue and protect lives.

Running the NGO in Pune posed initial challenges, especially for a working woman like me, who had to navigate additional obstacles. There were moments of deep sadness, witnessing animals in desperate conditions, where our only solace was providing them with love and comfort during their final moments. However, being in the presence of these pure-hearted individuals and observing their development gave me a sense of empowerment. Despite the challenges we have faced, the unwavering support and trust from individuals who share our passion have been incredibly inspiring.

I am fully committed to Saahas and will always uphold our values and ethics.
