At Saahas, we believe that every life big or small, healthy or paralyzed, stray or abandoned deserves a chance to live with dignity. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and give voice to those who have none.

A New Chapter at the Shelter
Saahas Gaushala
Until 2025, we used to rescue only dogs and cats but at the beginning of the year, we realised that we are now ready to rescue more animals and from different species. Initially the constraint was space and finances but this year with your support, we were able to rent a space and raise funds for abandoned, injured, diseased cows and buffaloes. At present, we have 6 cows and it’s a growing space.
We are very excited to take our Gaushala forwards and help as many domestic animals as possible in the coming years. We also aim to start an OPD for them so nearby farmers can reach out to us; however, it will take us sometime before we reach that stage.
Our Initiative for Shelter Animals
One Day Meals
Every single day, close to 100 rescued animals call our shelter their home. Twice a day, their bowls are filled with warm, nourishing meals and in the afternoons, we treat them to light snacks/ treats/ buttermilk.
It costs us about ₹2200 (dogs and cats) and ₹3000 (cows) each day to keep them well fed.
Through our One Day Meal Program, you can be the reason 100+ animals sleep with full bellies and happy hearts.
For them, it’s more than just food — it’s care, comfort, and the feeling that someone out there loves them.

I had the opportunity to volunteer with Saahas, and it was a truly amazing experience! This organization is doing a fantastic job of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming stray and abandoned dogs in the area.
